About Faith :)

Hello everyone! My name is Faith and I’m 23 years old. I’ve attended Brandman since Summer I and my major is Liberal Studies Integrated Multiple-Subject Credential. I have been a nanny for about 10 years and have always wanted to be an Elementary school teacher. I’m hoping to teach 2nd or 3rd grade but I will enjoy any grade, I’m sure.
The biggest thing I would like to research more of is, classroom techniques and planning outside of class in ways to still have a social life. What seems to get students attention in a more positive way, ways to not punish the whole class if only a few students are misbehaving, and so on. I have been working with many children of all ages and needs and feel that having my own classroom would be a welcome change.

I would like to improve on being able to go through academic sites and be able to figure out information easily. I get very frustrated when using databases because they usually only describe the abstract and I never know how to actually get the paper or study itself instead of just a summary.

  1. Hi Faith! I was excited to see your post, I think we are on a similar track in our career path, always nice to get to know other future educators! I feel like I am searching for the same classroom management techniques in my job constantly, and it is really easy to second guess whether or not we are prepared. One piece of advice I was given by my boss was to think about the every day activities we lead our students through and try to anticipate the problems before they even occur. He also said that sometimes we think to much about whether or not we are ready and forget that we already have the tools to manage a classroom, we just don't realize it because we are not in charge yet. Hope you found some of this helpful, looking forward to enjoying this class together!
